On March 17th 2025, our President, Rebecca Booth, had the honour of attending the Dunnville Youth Impact Centre’s Open House—a celebration not just of bricks and mortar, but of opportunity, hope, and community spirit.
Following a major renovation and expansion of over 2,500 sq. ft., the Youth Impact Centre has officially opened its second floor, unveiling two washrooms, a kitchenette/meeting space, three tutoring rooms, a reception/waiting area, and staff offices. This expansion is more than a facelift—it’s a lifeline for local youth and families.
Main Floor Kitchen: Where Food Meets Fellowship
This bright and bustling kitchen is the heart of the Centre’s FREE community dinners and brunches. Every third Thursday (October–June), and every Tuesday morning in July & August, volunteers from local churches come together to prepare hot, homemade meals for the community.
With over 100 Dunnville residents attending each event, these meals are more than nourishment—they’re a place to belong.
Youth Centre Main Room: A Place to Gather
Usually filled with games and laughter, the Centre’s main area transforms into a welcoming dining hall for up to 80 guests. Tables are set, conversations flow, and strangers become neighbours.
Upstairs Kitchen: Life Skills & Leadership
Beyond food, this space nourishes minds and hearts. Recently, a group of six youth learned to knit here, sharing stories and snacks during the process. The kitchenette supports staff meetings, youth mentorship, and life skill programs that make a lasting difference.
Tutoring Rooms: Every Child Deserves a Chance
Tucked upstairs are three quiet rooms where learning comes alive. With the help of six volunteer tutors, the Centre supports 25+ students each week from Mapleview, Thompson Creek, and St. Michael’s. Subjects include reading, comprehension, and math—all delivered in a one-on-one setting.
Each child is greeted with a snack, a smile, and a patient tutor ready to help them succeed. With requests rising, the Centre welcomes new volunteers to help meet the growing need.
Reception Area: Comfort for Caregivers
A cozy, quiet space for parents to relax while their child is in session. In the near future, the Centre hopes to offer coffee, tea, and light refreshments to enhance this waiting experience—because families need support too.
What This Means for Dunnville
This renovation isn’t just about new walls or fresh paint. It’s about removing barriers. It’s about equipping youth for life’s journey. From a warm meal to academic support, every square foot of the Dunnville Youth Impact Centre now works harder to bridge gaps, build confidence, and create community.
Every program is offered free of charge, removing socio-economic obstacles and ensuring every family—regardless of income—has access to support, connection, and hope.
