Leadership That Changes Lives

The Not-for-Profit of the Year award recognizes an organization that demonstrates exceptional leadership through the development and delivery of community programs and services, strong partnerships, and meaningful contribution to the quality of life in Dunnville.

Not-for-profit organizations often step into the spaces where needs are greatest and resources are limited. Their leadership is measured not in revenue, but in lives supported, partnerships built, and barriers reduced. They provide safety nets, opportunities, and hope — strengthening the social fabric of the entire community.

This year’s nominees — True Experience, No. 6 RCAF Dunnville Museum,  and Dunnville Community Theatre.  — each represent a different but vital pillar of community wellbeing, from mental health and housing to arts, heritage, and youth development.

And the 2026 Winner Is…

True Experience

True Experience is described by many as “small but mighty” — a phrase that reflects both its size and its impact.

One nomination shared simply:

“They help people with mental illness, help with housing and work.”

Behind those few words lies significant work. Housing stability and mental health support are among the most urgent and complex challenges facing communities today. True Experience provides housing-related supports in Haldimand at a time when those services are needed more than ever.

Another nomination highlighted the organization’s responsiveness and leadership:

“In 2026 Rhonda jumped on board to host the very first Coldest Night of the Year in Dunnville without hesitation when I reached out with the idea. It is one of the only organizations that provides housing related supports in Haldimand and housing with supports is needed more than ever. True Experience is a small but mighty organization.”

Stepping forward to host Coldest Night of the Year demonstrates not only initiative but courage — bringing awareness to housing insecurity and mobilizing the community to take action.

True Experience works quietly and consistently behind the scenes, supporting individuals navigating mental health challenges, housing instability, and employment barriers. Their efforts create pathways toward independence, dignity, and long-term stability.

In many cases, their work prevents crisis before it begins.
