On a sun-soaked Saturday morning, the heart of Dunnville transformed. The quiet buzz of early risers gave way to the sound of drums, hooves, laughter, and cheers as the 2025 Mudcat Festival Parade, proudly presented by Pet Valu, set sail down our main streets.
From the very first float, there was no mistaking this year’s theme—PIRATES. The town came alive with tricorn hats, treasure maps, and waving flags. It was as if every corner of our community had joined the crew. And thanks to the generous support of Pet Valu, our Parade Presenting Sponsor, we were able to give this cherished tradition the spotlight it deserves.
With 56 floats in total—including sports teams, marching bands, horses, not-for-profits, small businesses, and even local dignitaries—the parade was a perfect blend of celebration and connection. Kids waved from sidewalks, grandparents beamed with pride, and there was a shared feeling in the air: this is what community looks like.

As the parade came to a close, the laughter lingered. Kids still clutched candy and little pirate flags, and families gathered in parks to keep the festivities going. For 49 years, this parade has kicked off summer in Dunnville—and this year, it reminded us all why we love it.
To every participant, volunteer, sponsor, and smiling face: thank you, we couldn’t have done it without you.
Next year, we turn 50. And if this year was any sign… the best is yet to come.
